Lots of birthdays coming up!

Last night I got crafty and got a start on a lot of Summer birthday cards that need to get done. It seems like each month has at least 5 birthdays in it, so I better get busy! :) I took a photo of one of the cards I made last night. (I'm saving pics of others for when I have a creative dry spell and need some pics for my blog! lol).

This card used Webster's Pages papers, a vintage newspaper from 1900 (yes, I tore the original, but in my defense, I have a lot of them!!) I made a copy of a vintage pattern girl (this one is one of my favorites and I paid almost $10 for her on ebay! Yikes!!) and I glued her on with Yes Glue! Oh, I did attempt to stitch with my sewing machine before I put her on the card, but I was having problems because I did not let the glue dry first and my needle was sticking. So, the sewing is a bit rough! LOL! I still liked it though so I added the pattern girl, a ribbon and the Happy Birthday sentiment (Elizabeth Craft Designs) to the card to complete it. The inside of the card is also stitched (I didn't glue first that time!! lol)

Have a wonderful day!!

A new stamped card

Last week I had browsed the Hero Arts website and I found this cling stamp and had to order it!! I just love my vintage patterns and this couldn't have been any more made for me! I made 4 of these cards for a monthly card exchange and while I am not totally loving this card (It might be too monochromatic for my liking or something isn't quite right...I made them at midnight so that might be part of it), I still like this card a bit and I thought I would share it today. Supplies Used:
Hero Arts Cling Stamp
Hero Arts and Kaiser Kraft flowers
Hero Arts gemstones
DCWV papers
Bazzill Kraft cardstock
Fiskars border Punch
Vintage Buttons

Thanks for looking!

Art Journal Page: Change

Good morning! With our garage sales I fell behind on some challenges that I really enjoy taking part in. One of them is the art journal challenge on THE SCRAPPY TREE. The journal page was
to be about change and I loved the quote "Without Change There'd Be No Butterflies," so I put that quote on the page.

I used various paints and a permanent marker to do the background and I cut out the butterfly pieces from an old book. It was fun to do!

Some new ebay finds

Okay, old patterns are my absolute favorite things to look at and use in my projects. I was scouring ebay one day out of boredom and I came across these pattern books from the 50s and I begged my husband to buy them for me. He did! :)

I love the fashions of this time period! I think it would be just wonderful to wear some of these outfits!

Another look at one of the inside pages! So glamorous!!
Now, I have to figure out if I am going to use them or just look at them!! :)

Hi

I had to do a little scrambling today to make a card for tonight. Each month, the owner of R' Impressions (Blue Earth, MN) does a card making challenge where you MUST use certain given supplies and I left it until the last minute! Yikes!! Anyway, I got this card done here at naptime today. Now I think it's got a bit more going on in it than a lot of my cards do (especially the one I posted yesterday), but it was a fun challenge.

I was given the two orange cardstocks, green tag, brad and turn, as well as vellum in the card challenge packet from R' Impressions. I wasn't sure what to do with those colors at first, all I could think of was Halloween. Then it hit me that Cosmo Cricket would go perfectly with it. I distressed the edges of the dark orange cardstock, crumpled and distressed the light orange card stock piec and roughed up a piece of the inside cardstock with a sentiment on it (no pic of that). I will let it go on record that I hate vellum and I did not like trying to stick the stuff down. I used glue on part of it that I covered with Cosmo Cricket and used a clip to keep another part of it down. I know they make Vellum tape and I had some until this past weekend's garage sale when I sold it. :) I pretty much layered the heck out of the card until I had no open space, but I hope it's okay!

Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!

A crafty dry spell

I feel so bad! I've been on a crafty dry spell lately and just doing projects that have NEEDED to get done (like 10 cards for a card exchange that I forgot to take a pic of!) and getting ready for our big garage sale this upcoming weekend. It's driving me nuts! Crafting for me is a very relaxing theraputic thing and something I couldn't live without. I currently have some garage sale boxes scattered in my crafty space, making navigation in that room difficult at best! I am hoping to be back to normal next week!

Here's a pic of Ella that I took this morning. We went to Walmart last night and they had these cute shirts that had Minnesota on them and hers says Little Miss Minnesota. I got one for Debbie too and hers says Minnesota Girls Rule. They were under $5 and I couldn't resist! Have a great day!

A little Inchie

I have showed a few inchies in the past and this one is also for a monthly inchie swap I participate in. This month's theme is recycled items. On this inchie, I used the plastic mesh from an orange bag and some blank space on a piece of graph paper that my son had used for his homework. I stamped this image from Inkadinkado onto the graph paper, adhered the mesh and adhered a plain kraft cardstock backing! Then it was done!
We are hoping not to blow away today and hopefully get some good playing time in outside. The past few days have been insanely windy! It's been hard to take a walk without dirt blowing in our eyes!
