Fun

This week has been basically a vacation for me, without daycare kiddos and I've finally gotten creative! LOL. I should have spent more time doing that earlier! One of the things I made was a graduation card for a graduation party this weekend.

Supplies:
AC Cardstock
vintage sheet music
Marvy Punch
Distress Stickles
Bazzill ribbon
KaiserKraft and Prima flowers

This Monday we went to Flandrau State Park here in MN and the kids enjoyed swimming in a man made swimming pond. It was a great way to cool off!

Thanks for stopping by today!

A creative night

Do you ever get that totally awesome feeling when you get a lot done? Even if it's just all the laundry? Well, I got a lot of crafting done (at least a lot of crafting for me) last night. I made a birthday card and two layouts!

Here's the birthday card:

I picked the patterned papers from my stash of long neglected papers. I thought they had a nice vintage vibe to them. Then I tacked on a part of a doily. Next I used my sewing machine and stitched on the two sides of the card. I found this pretty pink lace that then made its way on the card. I matted my image on a pinkish/purple card stock, inked it up with ColorBox and glued it on top of the lace ribbon. I used some Crackle paint in linen and pink on a chipboard flower and added some Primas and vintage buttons to complete the card.

Supplies Used:

Paper from who knows where :)
Vintage lace, doily, buttons
Crafty Secrets image
Color Box ink (Dune)
Sewing machine

Since I hadn't made a layout in FOREVER, I decided to scrap the girls' dance photos. I am still quite uncomfortable doing layouts. I doubt myself at every choice possible whether it's picking paper or the design itself. I am learning to let go and just do whatever!! Here's my attempt at that!

I liked Debbie's pic this year with one of their props, the purple Cowboy hat. I loved the purples and pinks in her costume and I thought the background paper (taken just the day before from my Grandmother's unwanted papers) matched well! I put that down on top of a white 12 by 12 sheet of cardstock. Since the background paper had a bit of green in it as well (hard to see any in the photo though), I searched for the right green. I couldn't find it for the longest time. Then I looked in my Prima flower basket and boom!! The packaging from some flowers was perfect so I cut it up to mat her photo on top of a layer of vintage sheet music spritzed with Glimmer Mist. I was able to use a lot of scrap materials for this project!

Supplies used:
Bazzill white card stock
Sandylion patterned paper
Prima packaging
Basic Grey paper
Maya Rd. journaling circles
Maya Rd. birds
Sweet Clover, Delphinium Glimmer Mists
Tim Holtz Sizzix die
Hero Arts pearls

Finally, I made Ella's layout:

I matched the colors of Ella's costume with the cardstock and papers, but I thought the pink negative space was just too much. So, I inked up a Tattered Angels Glimmer Screen with Frost White ColorBox Chalk ink and stamped it on the cardstock. I used Glimmer Mist on the scalloped cardstock and the base pink cardstock as well. I really love using that stuff!

Supplies Used:

AC Cardstock (pink)
Pink paislee paper
Pink Paislee letters
Thickers
Making Memories vintage findings items

Thanks for looking today!

Circle journal entry

Hello! Today I have a circle journal page that I made about my area for The Sheilas Postcard Circle Journal over at Scrapbook.com. These pages are for my friend Kellie in AZ. I hope she likes them.

My main photo dictated my color scheme so I chose all warm colors from Graphic45 and Cloud 9. I added vintage music pages, both torn and punched with my Creative Memories square punch. I stamped flowers from Inkadinkado as well to add to my design.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look. I promise a longer post soon. I have some wonderful pictures of items I received from a swap that I will share soon!

Loving nature

I really love nature stamps, particularly birds!! This bird was just purchased from my local store when I went to card class last week. It's from Prickley Pear and you can also purchase a matching die cut as well. The stamp comes in a set with 3 different wings that are seasonal so this bird can be used well into Christmas season even! This card was pretty fun to put together. The multicolored background is Glimmer Mist and that was really fun to create. I distressed the colored panel and card base. Then I used Crackle Paint on the chipboard piece. Once dry, I assembled and inked the edges with yellow using my dauber.

Supplies Used:
Glimmer Mists
Prickley Pear stamps
chipboard frame
Crackle Paint
Liquid Pearls
flowers
brads button
3 D glue dots

The next card uses another new stamp set from my card class last week and this one comes from Hero Arts! (You know I love those retro women images!!) I used a mesh from orange packaging for the Glimmer Mist mask in the right corner.

Supplies used:
Cosmo Cricket papers
plastic doily
ink
Glimmer Mist (Coffee Shop)
I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

Seems like forever...

It seems like forever since I posted a blog entry. So, without further ado, I'll jump right on in!

Last night I went to a wonderful card class with my mother in law and Grandmother (who are great card makers!) They, along with my Grandmother's friend Annie and myself, do a monthly card swap. When I got home from card class last night, I decided to whip up the card for our July swap.

It's a rather simple card really, but I enjoyed putting it together! I stamped the images on the book page and I really liked that look. Oh, one of the stamps I used says "Priceless" but it did not photograph well.

Supplies used:
My Mind's Eye patterned paper
Vintage book page
Inkadinkado stamps
Marvy ink pads
Jenni Bowlin vintage photo buttons
Candle wicking yarn

I hope they'll enjoy the card!

This week's warmer temps have meant that our sprinkler has been out a lot. I snapped this pick yesterday of Ella drying off after running in it for awhile.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Stormy Weather

Yesterday was definitely a stormy day in this neck of the woods. You know it can't be good when the sky looks like this:
Or this:

Even though the skies were threatening and it rained and rained with numerous tornado sirens going off and CRAZY wind, it sure was a pretty sky for awhile. At one point it cleared off for about 10 min. and I thought the clouds looked so cool!

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!

Inspiration time at The Scrappy Tree

Happy Monday!! It is inspiration time at The Scrappy Tree and for the post I found this image of these fantastic beach umbrellas over at The Pottery Barn. How great is that catalog by the way??

I really loved the tranquil colors in the umbrellas, particularly the beige and white one, so I used that color combination for my card.

Supplies:
cardstock (supplier unknown)
flower punch: Marvy
Stamp: Inkadinkado
twine: my friend Diana! Thanks Di!! :)
